Football Recap: Denver Edge Hapless Jets in Low-Scoring Battle
In a defensive struggle this weekend, the Broncos clinched a 13-11 victory over the winless New York Jets. Quarterback Bo Nix connected on a first-quarter touchdown pass and specialist Wil Lutz kicked the late decisive three-pointer to seal the ugly win.
Dominant Performance Wins Contest
Even with registering nine sacks against Jets QB Justin Fields, the Broncos were behind 11-10 after giving up a two-point play in the third quarter. Interestingly, the Jets could only produce a mere 82 total net yards throughout the contest.
The Denver quarterback, who completed 19 of 30 attempts for 174 yards, led a critical 12-play, 65-yard possession that culminated in Lutz's 27-yard kick with approximately five minutes remaining.
Historic Difficulties for Jets Attack
Despite their dismal performance, the Jets still had possession with a opportunity to score a possible victory. However Fields was tackled on fourth-and-eight from the Denver 44 after coach Aaron Glenn opted to go for it instead of calling on specialist Nick Folk for a difficult kick.
Fields had difficulties throughout, completing just 9 of 17 attempts for 45 yards. New York finished with negative ten net yards passing, the lowest in any contest since 1998.
"Our passing game was completely absent," the coach stated following the game.
