The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Preview Debuts, Introducing New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Actors
Nintendo alongside Illumination unveiled the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. This occurred during a Nintendo-focused broadcast that centered on the forthcoming animated feature.
The sequel to the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will send Mario to the far corners of the cosmos. There, he will encounter a fresh princess character and a formidable new rival in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.
A Space-Faring Quest Inspired by Iconic Releases
Similar to the Wii-era games that serve as its inspiration, Mario will depart from the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. Throughout his extensive trek, he will reunite with some recognizable characters, including the Luma, a fan favorite from the previous film.
Yet it looks like Mario and his sibling Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who seemingly commands metallic abilities. Notably, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also features references to other beloved games like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
All-Star Vocal Ensemble Come Back and Grow
The movie will feature once again of the primary vocal talent, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Fresh faces in the lineup for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. It was announced by the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri.
A Big Year for Mario
The new Mario movie is planned to debut near the 40th anniversary of the first Super Mario Bros. title. Beyond the film, 2026 is shaping up to be a significant year for Mario and his allies.
Nintendo confirmed a set of three fresh titles officially announced for the upcoming year, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
